The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has shared its latest employer briefing, highlighting a range of initiatives designed to help businesses recruit, offer work experience and create opportunities for young people.
For pest management businesses looking to grow their teams, develop future talent or explore alternative recruitment routes, there are several useful areas of support worth being aware of.
The Government has recently announced a major youth employment drive backed by £1 billion, aimed at helping to unlock 200,000 jobs and apprenticeships for young people. This forms part of the wider Youth Guarantee, with employers encouraged to consider how work experience and employment opportunities can help young people build confidence, practical skills and an understanding of the workplace.
The latest DWP briefing also highlighted support available to employers through Jobcentre Plus, including help with work experience opportunities and recruitment. Businesses interested in offering work experience can engage with DWP teams to explore how placements could support both their organisation and local jobseekers.
For employers currently recruiting, the briefing highlights several routes to support, including the Government’s free Find a Job service, the Disability Confident scheme and access to Jobcentre Plus recruitment support.
The DWP noted that 2,018 employers engaged with Find a Job in June alone, supporting 79,525 live vacancies.
