The second updated and revised version of the European Code of Practice for bed bug management is now available for viewing and comments are being sought on the content prior to finalisation.
Version one of the Code, prepared by the Bed Bug Foundation, was released in May 2011 at ConExPest in Poland – to see the report click here.

Unlike the previous edition, version two is now targeted solely at pest control technicians, with the aim of providing the most up-to-date advice for the treatment of bed bug infestations. The Code also outlines key aspects of bed bug biology and behaviour, as an understanding of these is crucial to inform control strategies. Documents written specifically for private residents and accommodation providers will be made available in due course through the Bed Bug Foundation. The Code itself falls into two halves. Speaking at the recent British Pest Control (BPCA) Annual General meeting held on 27 June, Richard Naylor explained how the first half covers topics such as biology, monitoring, medical significance, prevention etc which are common across all European countries. The second half provides a framework for each country to individualise the Code relevant to their specific local conditions, treatment regimes and regulatory requirements. |
