The British Pest Control Association (BPCA) has introduced two new training courses designed to help experienced pest professionals prepare for advanced industry accreditations.
The new preparation programmes support candidates working towards the Certificated Advanced Technician (CAT) and Certificated Field Biologist (CFB)qualifications, two of the sector’s most respected professional designations.
The courses aim to help technicians align their practical experience with the requirements of the formal assessments. According to BPCA, candidates often have strong field knowledge but may benefit from structured preparation to ensure they meet the specific competencies assessed.
Karen Dawes, BPCA training and development manager, said the courses provide an opportunity to refresh core principles and prepare candidates for the assessment process.
She said: “The CAT and CFB accreditations recognise technicians who have built significant experience in the field. These preparation programmes help candidates align their experience with the assessment criteria and approach the process with a clear understanding of current best practice.”
The one-day CAT preparation course focuses on advanced operational pest management skills, including pest identification, site inspections, diagnosis and treatment planning.
Meanwhile, the two-day CFB preparation course supports professionals moving into more analytical and advisory roles, covering areas such as monitoring programmes, auditing, trend analysis and pest management reporting.
Both courses are delivered in person and include practical exercises and scenario-based discussions designed to reflect real-world pest management challenges.
Upcoming courses will take place in Derby, with the CFB preparation course scheduled for June 24-25, 2026, and the CAT preparation course on July 17, 2026.
