The Syngenta NPTA 5<25 Professional Futures Programme has this week introduced its fourth group of young professionals selected.
Richard Mosesley, Syngenta’s key account and business development manager, said: “These five individuals represent the future of our industry, each bringing their own passion, ambition and commitment to developing a career in pest management.
“We’re looking forward to sharing their stories, the companies supporting them, and why they chose a career in pest control.”
Kevin Lawrenson, NPTA chief executive, added: “Pest control is more than just a job, it’s a profession that requires passion, commitment, and the ability to adapt in a constantly evolving industry.
“The NPTA believes in nurturing the next generation of leaders, and the 5<25 initiative is our way of giving young talent the recognition they deserve, while also inspiring others to strive for excellence.”
The fourth cohort of candidates consists of: Riley Barret, Riley-Fox Weston, Harry Reeves Hoyle, Holly Simcock and Levi Wood.
Meet the candidates
The candidates come from diverse backgrounds, but they all share a common drive to succeed.
Whether they are leading innovative projects, pushing the boundaries of pest management, or showing outstanding dedication to their teams, these individuals are shaping the future of pest control.
Riley Barret, MSB Pest Control
“I am 17 years old and have been in our family business since I left school last year. Before that I used to go with dad in the van when I was on school holidays, so I have always been around pest control.
“I have done my Safe Use of Rodenticides C ourse and am shadowing dad at the moment, but I can’t wait to get out to jobs on my own.
“I do MMA and spearfish in my spare time and as we live in Cornwall, I love the sea.”
Riley-Fox Weston, Bromley Pest Control
“I’m Riley-Fox, the third-generation pest controller at Bromley Pest Control, which is based in south east London.
“At 17 years old, I’m fairly new to the pest control industry, but whilst working in the family business I’ve picked up and learnt valuable information regarding pest control and I can’t wait to learn more, get a proper understanding of the job, and forge ahead in the family business. I’m really happy to be a part of this 5<25 scheme.”
Harry Reeves Hoyle, Acute
“I’ve always had a genuine interest in the pest control industry, especially the industrial and agricultural side of it. From a young age, I was fascinated by the important role it plays behind the scenes, protecting businesses, food production and the wider public. It always seemed like an industry that got neglected by the wider public.
“When I was given the opportunity to complete work experience with Acute, I jumped at the chance, and I can honestly say I loved every second of it. It gave me a real insight into what the job is all about and opened my eyes to just how important pest control is across the agricultural and industrial sectors. Seeing first-hand how the work helps protect food production and supports businesses across the country made me realise just how much of a difference the industry makes every single day and the impact it would have if it wasn’t around.
“The more time I spent with the team at Acute, the more I knew this was the career I wanted to pursue. The industry really suits me as a person because no two days are ever the same. Every day brings a new challenge, a different environment and another opportunity to learn, which means there’s never a chance to become bored. I enjoy being hands-on, solving problems and meeting different people, and pest control gives me the opportunity to do all of that and more.

Their professionalism, support and passion for what they do have only strengthened my enthusiasm for the industry, and I’m incredibly grateful to have started my journey with such a fantastic company.”
Holly Simcock, Ratatak
“I’m 23 and I’ve recently started an exciting new career as a pest controller at Ratatak, a company specialising in agricultural pest control. In my spare time, you’ll usually find me riding motorbikes, watching films or spending time with friends and family!
“Prior to joining Ratatak, I worked at a livestock feed and gun store, where I was first introduced to the pest control industry. The more I learnt about the role, the more it appealed to me. I loved the variety it offered, from hands-on problem-solving and working outdoors to helping protect public health and supporting the agricultural sector. It quickly became clear that pest control was a career I wanted to pursue.
“It’s a huge privilege to have been selected for the NPTA 5<25 initiative. I’m looking forward to expanding my knowledge, building my confidence, and supporting my professional development through the program.”
Levi Wood, PestFree Pest Control
“I am 22 years old and I have recently come into the pest control industry under PestFree Pest Control.
“In my short time in the profession, I have learnt many valuable skills which I apply every day in my role. I enjoy this role due to the large variety of pests we treat and that no two jobs are the same, it’s always something new and it’s very rewarding.
“In my spare time I love spending time with my young family, and playing golf and darts.”
