Pelsis and Curtis Gilmour to merge

The Directors of Pelsis Holdings (UK) Ltd and Curtis Gilmour Inc. are pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached to bring together the brand portfolios and operations of the two companies with immediate effect. The activities of the two companies are highly complementary to one another and together give access to a broader range of customers and geographies, for the consolidated product range.
The existing shareholders of each company – LDC, the private equity arm of Lloyds Banking Group, in the case of Pelsis and Harwood Capital in the case of Curtis Gilmour – have maintained their respective investments in the new holding company, reinforcing the commitment of both investors to the future of the business.

 Pelsis Curtis Gilmour merger

Pelsis has leading brands in both the professional and consumer pest control categories such as Insect-O-Cutor, the leading electronic flying insect control brand, Network bird control, and Edialux, one of the largest consumer brands in Western Europe.

Curtis Gilmour’s brands include the highly respected B&G Equipment line of professional sprayers, Curtis Dyna-Fog premium fogging products, as well as the Agrisense and Silvandersson trapping and monitoring brands.

The consolidated portfolio will be led by Pelsis Group CEO Peter Mangion and will continue to operate from its current facilities in the USA and in Europe. Both companies recognise a core strength of the other is their respective distribution, distributor and sales representative networks. There is no intention to change these.

Peter Mangion said: “The bringing together of these great brands creates a compelling offer to customers large and small across the USA and Europe, an offer which covers the full needs of the professional pest controller as well as the end consumer.

“The enlarged brand portfolio is made up of some of the world’s leading brands which have been built on investment in technology, quality and performance.

“Our collective team is made up of highly experienced people who together form a formidable force in the global pest control market. We are very much looking forward to continuing to serve our customers with our unique offer and approach to helping solve pest control problems whenever, and wherever they occur”.

Curtis Gilmour Executive Chairman and Harwood operational adviser Carl Contadini said: “Our history with Pelsis dates to better than a decade ago when P+L Systems was a subsidiary undertaking of one of Harwood’s portfolio companies. The combining of these two companies into an enlarged group and our reunion with Pelsis, settles an ambition we have pressed since we formed Curtis five years ago.”

LDC backed Pelsis in a multi-million-pound deal in August 2017 to help accelerate the firm’s global growth strategy. The merger with Curtis Gilmour will now see the business broaden its geographical presence to operate across 15 locations in Europe, Asia and North America and further strengthen its customer proposition by significantly expanding its product portfolio.

Editor’s note
It was only last year in Pest 53: October & November 2017 that we predicted in our feature on the ‘Big Get Bigger’ that Pelsis was likely to grow further and, just one issue later, in Pest 54: December 2017 & January 2018 we caught up with Dave Avery and Dawn Bolton to find out how the four operations brought together under the Curtis Gilmour name – Agrisense, Silvandersson, B&G Equipment and Curtis Dyno-Fog were to operate. Again we predicted that further change was likely.
