CRRU: Barn owl residue study 2016 CRRU: Barn owl residue study 2016
This is a new independent analysis by the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (CEH) of barn owl livers supplied by the citizen science project, the Predatory Birds Monitoring Scheme in 2016. It is a key element in the monitoring of the UK Rodenticide Stewardship Regime which aims to reduce the levels of rodenticide residue in the environment in general and in this sentinel species in particualr.

This new Barn Owl Monitoring Study has been published as part of the surveillance being carried out by the UK Rodenticide Stewardship Regime. The study tracks barn owl breeding success across five areas of the UK for a minimum of three years. Funded by the Campaign for Responsible Rodenticide Use (CRRU) UK, field work has been by Wildlife Conservation Partnership and analysis by the University of Reading.

A bulletin from the Register of Metallic Phosphide Standards organisation explaining how these fumigants are registered under two separate sets of regulations, the Plant Protection Product regulations and the Biocidal Product regulations. The booklet introduces the concept of label tags which has been agreed with the Health & Safety executive to ensure all products have up to date label information attached.
