Rentokil offers advice on how to reduce the spread of germs in offices

With offices a centre of infections at the best of times due to the number of people sharing one building or room and the large number of common surfaces that people will touch during the day, Rentokil has offered advice on how to reduce the spread of germs in offices.

The pest control company has unveiled a list of precautions that businesses should take to stop the spread of infections in a shared environment such as an office.

As well as advice, it has created a poster that it is encouraging business to print and displaying in offices to remind colleagues of the five precautions: hand hygiene, coughing and sneezing etiquette, surface hygiene, washroom hygiene and food safety.

A spokesman for Rentokil said: “Over a third (34%) of workers are concerned about getting used to a corporate office culture again after the lockdown, yet 72% of workers are missing face-to- face interaction with colleagues.

“Returning to work is going be a bitter-sweet experience for many. 59% of usually office-based employees are worried about being able to maintain social distancing, so safety factors are obviously weighing heavy on their minds. Preparation for return will of course be essential, however providing a continuously hygienic and safe environment will be critical for ongoing employee retention and productivity.

“Even before COVID-19, 39% of office workers said that their level of employee satisfaction would be higher if workplace hygiene was better – a number that is very likely to be even higher now.”
