It was announced today (17 November) that Oliver Madge, BPCA Chief Executive Officer, is to depart the BPCA at the end of the year.
The following text was contained within the email sent by Martina Flynn, BPCA President, to BPCA members and industry contacts on 17 November 2009. BPCA Executive Board members were only advised of this news the previous day.
Dear Colleague, The BPCA Executive Board is sorry to announce the departure of CEO Oliver Madge. Oliver has spent three and a half years at the helm of BPCA increasing the profile of the association both within the industry and outside and this we hope you will agree, has been achieved. Coverage in the press has been more than at any time and guest appearances on TV shows from Sky news to Big Brother demonstrates the diversity of audiences that have been exposed to professional pest management. He has also made a big impact in relations with EHO’s through the Aiming High campaign, which continues to grow and develop as well as revitalising the face of Pestex and PPC to the professional and fresh way we see them today. In addition, we now have field mentors that are directly supporting members in their businesses and regions. Benefits of membership have never been more supportive for members. |

He was also charged to increase the awareness and need for professionalism for this industry and this is likely to be an area where Oliver will continue to research and pursue. Probably one of his most long lasting contributions will be that of online learning. The BPCA online learning site is and will continue to set the standards for professional learning in the industry, something we will endeavour to continue to develop. The Board, on behalf of our members thank Oliver for his contribution and wish him well in his future endeavours. Having spent his entire career in the Pest Control industry and having come from running his own business, he is likely to return to that arena. Your Executive Board is currently reviewing the next set of objectives and the profile of the individual who will continue the good work that has been set in motion. Oliver will remain with BPCA to hand over key projects and initiatives until the end of the year. If you wish to make any comments or have any questions please do not hesitate to contact either Oliver or myself on the details below. Regards, Martina Flynn President |
