Rats disrupting a council renovation project
I was contacted by a French local council overseeing a building renovation that had been stopped due to the presence of rats, persistent odour, and droppings. The infestation centred on two toilet blocks linked by a “vide sanitaire,” a crawl space beneath the first floor that allowed easy rodent access and movement.
The site posed a real challenge, with areas already stripped out for renovation. Rats were active in the crawl space and the toilet blocks, preventing work from continuing safely.”
Rapid intervention with Selontra
Following an initial site assessment, I placed three bait boxes in each toilet block, each containing seven blocks of Selontra. The boxes were discreetly positioned behind the removed toilets to maximise bait accessibility while minimising disturbance.
By the following day, 95% of the bait had been consumed, demonstrating the high palatability of the rodenticide. I replenished the boxes with the same quantity of Selontra, and by the end of the week, there was no further consumption.
A final check the following week confirmed zero activity, allowing the bait to be removed and a statement of completion to be submitted.
The uptake was incredibly fast, and control was complete in just seven days. It was a perfect job; clean, efficient, and effective.
