Pelsis expands into Scandinavia

The Pelsis Group has acquired the Danish distributor, Tanaco A/S of Esbjerg, in a move that gives the organisation its first foothold in the Scandinavian pest control market. The acquisition which is for an undisclosed sum, was announced today, 8 January, with immediate effect.

Tanaco is an established business serving the Danish professional and consumer pest control sectors, through its own Tanaco and ‘A Green Way’ brands as well as through the distribution of a full range of third party products.

The Tanaco business will continue to operate from its current location and there will be no changes to staffing levels there. The current owner of Tanaco, Henrik Lange will also remain with the business for the foreseeable future and, going forward, the business will continue to operate as it has in the past.

Pelsis Group CEO, Peter Mangion, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Henrik Lange and the whole team at Tanaco in this, our first platform business in the Scandinavian pest control market. This transaction is consistent with the Pelsis strategy of acquiring well established businesses, with strong brands and great people, whilst developing our geographical footprint and so, getting closer to where our customers operate. Pelsis now has manufacturing, packing and distribution facilities, as well as office locations in nine countries and customers in more than 80 countries.”

Henrik Lange, chairman and owner of Tanaco added: “I am very pleased that Tanaco is now a part of the Pelsis Group. Tanaco has always been geared towards growth and with skilled loyal employees, good customer relations and trading partners, has become a major player in the Scandinavian market. The move greatly enhances our ambition to serve our customers in an even better way. I very much look forward to being a part of the success and professionalism of Pelsis.”

About Pelsis:
The Pelsis Group is a UK headquartered company operating predominantly in the pest control market. With manufacturing and distribution facilities in six European countries as well as offices in the USA and China, Pelsis serves both consumer and professional pest control categories through its leading portfolio of brands, including Insect-O-Cutor, the world’s biggest electronic flying insect control brand and Edialux, the No. 1 market share brand in Belgian consumer pest control, plant and pet protection.

About Tanaco:
Until the acquisition, Tanaco was a privately owned company based in Esbjerg, Denmark, where it was founded in 1982.

The business supplies a wide range of products for pest control with a focus on environmentally safe products and methods. Tanaco was originally established as a sister company to a larger pest control company, Skadedyrcentralen, which was itself founded in 1910 by Axel L Lange. His son, Carl l Lange, took over in 1938, around the time that the first rat law was passed by the Danish government. Carl took full advantage of this by signing rodent control contracts with the municipalities.

In the 1960’s the business passed to Arne l Lange and Henrik Lange joined the company in the 1980s, first working for many years as a pest controller, thereafter as salesman and finally as technical manager before taking on the management of the whole company. Today Tanaco is an important supplier of brands and products, primarily in the Danish market where it has a leading position in a number of product categories.
