Events to look forward to in 2015

For European pest professionals, Parasitec 2014 brought the year’s exhibitions and conferences to a close. But never fear, 2015 is just around the corner with much to look forward to. So what’s on offer?

For exhibitors and delegates alike, exhibition catalogues are now filed and passports may have now been put to bed until after the New Year. Certainly for those involved on the international circuit, the autumn is always a busy time. We here in the Pest office have attended the major events and have posted special reports from PestWorld, PestTech and most recently, Parasitec.

Events on the scale of national pest control exhibitions are planned months, if not years, in advance, so what has 2015 got to offer?

Global Pest Bug Summit
Making an early start, the Global Bed Bug Summit to be held in the USA between 7- 9 January is first in the diary. Being held, once again, in Denver, Colorado this promises to be a worthwhile get together – as it was in 2014. Read the report in Pest magazine.

Mosquitoes in Spain
Another insect specific event follows with the 7th European Mosquito Control Association workshop. Running over the four days of 23-26 February, Valencia in southern Spain may well prove a warmer venue.

Rimini in March
Always a good event, Disinfestando 2015, organised by the Italian trade associating (ANID) follows in March. Once again to be held at the Adriatic resort of Rimini in Italy on 11 and 12 March (Read our 2013 report) , this time it is to be known as Pest Italy. As is typical at these events, running alongside the exhibition is an accompanying seminar programme.

PestEx 2015
On home soil, plans for PestEx 2015 are going great guns. Due to a high demand for exhibition space the British Pest Control Association (BPCA), as the organisers, have worked with the ExCel Exhibition Centre to incorporate extra stands to meet demand for the much anticipated show taking place on the 25 and 26 March 2015. A further 118m of exhibition space to keep pace with the demand from companies around the world has been added, and that is in addition to the 134m increase already added over the 2013 event.

Details regarding the accompanying seminar programme are to be released in the next few months. A word of advice – if coming and planning to stay overnight, get your hotel booked now, as available rooms are already in short supply.

Off to Dubai
Mark your calendar for PestWorld East, 19-21 April in Dubai. Hosted by the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) with Ecovar, this one-of-a-kind conference is designed to address pest management challenges specific to the Middle East, South Asia and India.

Joint NPMA and CEPA summit
Completing the first half of the year, you are invited to the inaugural Global Summit of Pest Management Services jointly organised by the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) and the Confederation of European Pest Management Associations (CEPA). To be held on 3-5 June at Juan-les-Pins Conference Centre in Antibes, France, this event will address pest management services in terms of the needs of the food, food service, retail, hospitality and other service business sectors.
