A revised set of standards covering key requirements for food storage and processing facilities have been introduced by AIB International.
To accompany these new standards which are operative from 2 January 2009, AIB has updated and revised their bookletConsolidated Standards for Inspection . These detail the key requirements a facility must meet in order to keep its food products wholesome and safe.

All food safety topics are addressed, so it is hardly surprising that pest control only accounts for one section. However, significantlypest control has been rechristened Integrated Pest Management and the ICE concept for pest management – Identify, Control and Eliminate – has been introduced.

Speaking at the CEPA European Pest Management Day in Brussels at the end of last year, Deryck Tremble, European Regional General Manager for AIB International, enthusiastically said: “ICE provides an opportunity for a pest controller to sell a better service.”

A copy of these revised standards can be downloaded from the AIB website or click here, as can a useful presentation click here, which details the changes to the standards and the logic behind them.
