Pest publications is once again very pleased to team-up with Barrettine Environmental Health to offer northern-based pest professionals an excellent and topical one-day seminar on 3 October 2012.

Barrettine - 3 October

The programme, presented by acknowledged industry speakers, covers a broad-spectrum of topics close to the heart”s of all pest controllers.

Survey results – what you said
First up isPest’s own associate editor, Helen Riby, who will be presenting some of the key findings, and what they mean for practical pest controllers, from this year’s National UK Pest Management survey undertaken jointly with BASF.

Wild about wildlife?
Badgers could hardly be a more topical and controversial subject at present, so hearing what Rodney Calvert of Natural England has to say will certainly be interesting. Continuing the wildlife theme, Ian Woods from UK Traps/JD Engineering will be giving an urban view on managing squirrels, foxes and other mammals.

Rodents and bed bugs
On the rodent front, Claire Hazell from Bayer will share her understanding of the proposed new requirements concerning the use of anticoagulant rodenticides. And if bed bugs are your thing, Dr Richard Naylor, who has recently concluded his research work at Sheffield University (see recent Pest article – click here) and is now involved with the Bed Bug Foundation, will update the audience on the latest developments.

Following the day’s seminar, there is an optional First Aid workshop (£35 fee per person) presented by Barrettine’s Helen Ainsworth. For those who may not know, Helen is a fully trained first aider and works voluntarily with the British Red Cross. She is excellent at getting over those key points which one day you may need to save a life.

The day is supported by Suterra, Bayer, Bell, Rentokil and BASF who will all have product information on-site, as well as staff to discuss matters with.

Commencing with coffee at 08.30, the event is to be held at the Hellaby Hall hotel at Rotherham. It is located very close to Junction 1 of the M18 – so is easy to reach. Click here for location details.

The main event, including lunch, is free of charge for all Mint members – or £30 to non-members. BASIS CPD points allocated.

Don”t delay – register now!
As Helen Ainsworth explains: “Barrettine is delighted to have teamed up, once again, withPestmagazine for our Northern Training Day which is fast becoming an annual event. The response to these days is always fantastic, so it’s unfortunate that we can’t accommodate everyone who applies. So – book early to avoid disappointment.”
