Spar calls time on Plymouth shop after video captures live mice on glue boards

Convenience store chain Spar said it is pulling out of a Plymouth city centre branch after a video emerged showing mice struggling to escape what appears to be a ‘glue trap’ in the window.

Plymouth Live said the footage shows the front of shop, on Armada Way, with a piece of cardboard underneath one of the shelves.

Upon closer inspection, a mouse can be seen lying on its side struggling and appearing to be stuck on a glue trap.

In the video, another mouse is also seen hidden further under the shelving.

A number of people have complained to the store, and a piece of cardboard has been put in place to shield people passing’s view.

In a statement, Spar UK said: “As a result of an inspection of the outlet following the customer complaint, this outlet is no longer a Spar UK store and we do not supply it with goods.

“We have advised the now independent store to seek alternative remedies for the infestation.”
