The third Global Summit of Pest Management Services for Public Health and Food Safety will be held in Portugal 4-6 June 2018. And, it’s the place to be this June, says the President of Confederation of European Pest Management associations (CEPA) and UK pest management professional, Henry Mott.
Shared knowledge leads to shared success
Henry explains why he believes pest professionals should make time to attend this event which brings together leaders from the food industry and pest management.

“Pest prevention and pest management are global issues,” he says. “In my experience no one has all the answers which is why getting together to discuss the problems and to share solutions is so valuable. Shared knowledge leads to shared success.”

Following a successful event in New York in 2017, this global event returns to Europe for 2018. The venue is the Hotel Miragem in the delightful coastal resort of Cascais, just 25 minutes from Portugal’s capital, Lisbon.

Presentations will focus on how our industry protects public health and contributes to food safety with the help of innovative technologies, the introduction of new service standards, rigorous training requirements and public/private partnerships.

Senior speakers
Among the high profile ‘government’ speakers are Robert Madelin who brings invaluable experience as a former Director General of the EU Directorate for Public Health & Food Safety, Michelle Whelan from the Irish Department of Agriculture Food and the Marine, Dr Divino Valero Martins of the Brazilian Ministry of Health and Dr Cesaltina Ramos from the Portuguese Ministry of Health.

From the global food and retail sector come Bizhan Pourkomailian of McDonald’s Restaurants, Daniel Baldwin of Yum Brands and Justyna Kostarczyk from the Metro Retail Group

There will also be senior representatives from the World Health Organisation, the Global Food Safety Initiative and the European Mosquito Control Association.

Wide-ranging topics
Among the topics to be addressed are: How Food Technology, Innovation and Consumer Trends Impact Pest Management Services, Current Innovations in Pest Management Service Delivery and Implementation – What Might the Future Hold for the Pest Management Industry?, Shifting Paradigms in Pest Management – How Can the Industry Forecast and Prepare for Change? and Around the World In 80 Minutes: Updates on the Trends and Challenges Pest Management Professionals are Facing Around the World.

The summit has been timed to coincide with the second World Pest Day on 6 June. Representatives from CEPA, NPMA and the Federation of Asian and Oceanic Pest Management Associations (FAOPMA) will take to the platform to celebrate the fact that every day, pest management professionals work to protect people and properties from the potential diseases and damage caused by pests. The objective is to create awareness among people all over the world for the important role the professional pest management industry plays in protecting public health and keeping people, their homes, schools, recreational areas, hotels, food manufacturing sites and retail premises pest and disease-free.

The event is jointly organised by the American association, the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) and CEPA. Dominique Stumpf, CEO at NPMA will be join Henry Mott to welcome delegates.
