Sudden death of Sam Osili – owner of PestFree Environmental Services

It is with deep regret that we have to report the sudden death of Sam Osili, managing director of Pestfree Environmental Services based in Rushden, Northants.

Sam died on New Year’s Eve whilst on holiday in Nigeria. The suddenness of his death, combined with the complexities of it being abroad, has caused his family to delay making this announcement.

Sam was born on 5 October 1954. He was a well-known, larger-than-life character, yet was highly respected in the pest control and food industries. He was involved in many business ventures and part of his legacy was the establishment in 1999 of his own pest control servicing company -PestfreeEnvironmental Services. From an initial standing-start, Sam’s hard work, commitment and passion meant the operation soon grew, and now offers nationwide coverage. Before this, Sam worked within the food industry for 20 years in various technical and managerial roles for such companies as Unilever, ABF and Northern Foods.

This obviously comes as a devastating shock, not only to his family, but also to his loyal staff at Pestfree. As Barbara Perry, key accounts manager, said: “I cannot put into words how much we all respected Sam and just how much he will be missed. Sam Osili never walked into a room unnoticed, and even if you only met him once, you remembered him. He was an inspiration to all he met and we will miss him dearly.”

Larger-than-life – Sam Osili

The operation of Pestfree’s activities will continue. His wife Caroline will now undertake the role of managing director. Caroline said: “I am fully supported by a robust management team, all of whom have impressed me with their commitment to continue Sam”s legacy. The business was designed to operate efficiently and effectively in Sam’s absence and whilst obviously Pestfree will be without the larger-than-life character, the infrastructure ensures that it is business as usual.”

Our sincere condolences go to his wife Caroline, as well as Sam’s son and four daughters.
